Project Overview
This project focused on the study, design, and upgrading of key road infrastructure in the Mekkah region, aiming to enhance transportation connectivity, safety, and operational efficiency. The initiative included the dualization of the Taif–Al-Baha Road over 120 km and the development of critical intersections, including the Kholes City Intersection, incorporating modern design standards and smart traffic solutions to accommodate current and future traffic demands.
Scope of work:
- Design a road tunnel to improve traffic flow and enhance the operational performance of the existing road network.
- Conduct comprehensive technical, economic, and environmental studies, including topographic surveys, traffic and road safety planning, and hydrological analysis.
- Prepare detailed engineering and design drawings, covering architectural, structural, electrical, and utility relocation/conversion works.
- Develop complete tender and bidding documents, including technical specifications, bills of quantities, and contractual requirements.
Outcomes:
- A fully upgraded Taif–Al-Baha dual carriageway, improving connectivity between Taif and Al-Baha.
- Efficient and safe intersections along the route, including the key Kholes City Intersection.
- Improved traffic flow, safety, and operational performance along the regional corridor.
- Integration of smart traffic management systems to support future growth and minimize congestion.
- Enhanced transportation efficiency and regional mobility, supporting economic and social development in the Mekkah region.
